PRODUCT
  • How many hours can I record with the camera? Detailed information is provided here.
  • Can the camera be used for long cast fishing? No. Although the camera is waterproof to the IPX8 standard - i.e., it can withstand submersion to 10 meters for two hours - we can't guarantee waterproof performance following collision with water surfaces.
  • Can I replace the battery? In order to ensure that the camera is waterproof, the battery cannot be replaced.
  • Is it OK to disassemble the camera? No. If you disassemble it, the camera will no longer be waterproof and its warranty will be invalidated.
  • What accessories are included with the product? Please refer to the following link.
  • Is the SD card sold separately? Yes. Compatible SD cards are Micro SD/SDHC class 6 or higher (up to 32 GB).
  • How do I use the belt mount to attach the camera to my helmet? Please refer to the movie at the link above, which explains how to set up the camera.
  • The captured image is distorted. With these lens specifications, peripheral distortion occurs in both still images and videos. Check here for details.
  • When power supply is turned ON, the LED lights up; what does this mean? After the power supply is turned ON, the remaining memory in the SD card and remaining capacity in the battery is displayed for about 2 seconds. Subsequently, the screen changes to the shooting mode.

  • Shooting is not possible even if an SD card is inserted. A failure may have occurred in the micro SD card. Use a new micro SD card and check again.
  • What kind of function is the High sensitivity setting? Turning this function ON allows you to take still images even in a low light environment.
    ON: Auto control with an ISO sensitivity between 80 and 3200
    OFF: Auto control with an ISO sensitivity between 80 and 800 (default setting)
    However, the picture becomes grainy when the ISO sensitivity is high, sometimes making the still image look grainy.
  • Upon checking the shot taken in a dark place, the image was blurred. When taken in a dark place, the image becomes grainy and blurry.
  • The speaker (microphone) is clogged with dirt; how can the dirt be removed? Use a camera blower to remove the dirt.
  • A warning display appeared when the main body was in operation; what does it mean? Detailed information is provided here.
HOW TO USE
  • How do you operate the camera? Please refer to the link above to see the camera's general operating instructions (instructional movies are included).
  • Why won't the power turn on? Press the MODE button. If there is an error alert, carry out these steps:
    ① If the left-hand side lamp blinks red and the error signal sounds, charging is required.
    ② If the error alert is accompanied by the left LED flashing red, recharge the battery.
  • How do you turn the power off? Press the REC button for 4 seconds or longer. Note that the camera will automatically shut down if it isn't operated for about three minutes.
  • Why doesn't the camera respond when I push the buttons? If the camera isn't responding, the operating system might have frozen.
    Reset the camera by pushing the MODE and Record buttons simultaneously for eight seconds or longer.
  • How do I use the belt mount to attach the camera to my helmet? Please refer to the movie at the link above, which explains how to set up the camera.
  • How do you connect the camera to a smartphone? Like this:
    ① From the relevant app page, download and install the dedicated app that is compatible with your smartphone.
    ② Press the MODE button and turn the camera on.
    ③ From your smartphone's settings screen, establish a Wi-Fi connection.
    ④ Press the MODE button again for 3 seconds or longer and confirm that the LED lights on both sides light up green simultaneously.
    ⑤ "SMN_CAM-******" will appear in your smartphone's list of selectable Wi-Fi connections. Choose this connection.
    ⑥ Enter the password "SHIMANO_Cam" to secure the Wi-Fi connection. (The password is case sensitive.)
    ⑦ Wi-Fi functionality is available by activating the app downloaded in step ①.
    *Connection using the above method may not be possible in Android 5.1 and 6.0.x. Click here for details.
  • Can I use my smartphone to view movies and still images taken with the camera? Yes. Activate the dedicated app while maintaining a Wi-Fi connection between your smartphone and the camera.
    Movies and still images stored in the camera can be selected from the File List and played back through your smartphone.
  • Can movies and still images be deleted via PC? Movies and still images stored on the camera's Micro SD card cannot be deleted when the card is in the camera and the camera is connected to a PC via USB. (However, files can be copied this way.)
    There are two ways to delete movies and still images:
    ① Remove the Micro SD card from the camera, connect it to a PC, and delete files directly.
    ② Establish a Wi-Fi connection with your smartphone and delete files from the File List.
  • Video files cannot be copied to an iPhone. When copying video files to an iPhone, the amount of free space on the iPhone should be at least twice as much as the size of the video files.
    Furthermore, combination with an OS may require an amount of free space that is three times as much.
    When copying video files to an iPhone, check beforehand that there is enough free space available.
  • How can you tell the battery's charge level? There are two ways to check it:
    ① The remaining battery level is indicated by the left-side LED, which lights up for two seconds when the camera is turned on. Red means the battery needs charging; orange means it's about half empty; and green means it's sufficiently charged.

    ② Connect the camera with your smartphone and check the battery level using the Live View.
  • How do I recharge the battery? Charge using the included USB cable. During charging, the left lamp will blink yellow. When charging is complete, the lamp will light green.
  • Why can't I recharge the battery? Due to the characteristics of lithium ion batteries, charging difficulties may arise when the battery has not been charged or used for a long period. We recommend that the battery be recharged on a regular basis, even when the camera is not being used.
  • Can you see the "Angle Free" function enabled video on your PC? Use the recommended QuickTime Player to playback Angle Free function enabled videos.If you use other video playback players, video playback may not be possible or only audio may be available with the "Angle Free" function enabled.
    When the Angle Free function is enabled, the filming angle will be fixed when filming begins.Check the image with your smartphone before shooting, or start shooting when there is no vibration.When the Angle Free function is not required, it is recommended that you turn off the function before use.
  • How can I confirm the connection status of an ANT device? The connection status of a wireless ANT device is indicated by an icon displayed in the upper-right corner of the app's Live View screen.
  • Where is the data stored for a connected ANT device? Data from an ANT device is stored in the camera's Micro SD card in the form of CSV files.
  • When a Wi-Fi connected camera is immersed underwater, the Wi-Fi connection cuts off. A camera or smart phone cannot be connected when it is underwater.

  • Is it possible to display a live view of the video being recorded by the sports camera on a smart phone? The live view function cannot be used while recording is in progress.
  • I played a video from the file list of the smart phone app but there is no sound. If the smartphone app or camera firmware versions are old, the error signal will not sound.
    Update the smartphone app (ver. 1.3.0 or later) and camera firmware (ver. 1.2.0 or later) to the latest version.
  • I would like to change the password for the Wi-Fi connection; how should this be set? You can change the password under “Settings”>>“SSID setting” of the app. The current password is shown in the “Password” field, after deleting it once, enter the new password in 8 - 16 characters. In addition, enter the password that has been set in “Check the password” again to confirm it.
    *The password cannot be changed in Android 6.0.x. Click here for details.
  • Is there a way to connect to a smart phone wirelessly while the camera is recording? The camera’s Wi-Fi connection function cannot be used when it is recording. Stop shooting once before connecting to the Wi-Fi network again.
  • I played a video on a PC but it doesn’t run smoothly. Depending on the PC performance, it may not be possible to play some videos smoothly.
  • I would like to delete the data recorded. The data can be deleted from the “File List” of a smart phone app, or by taking out the micro SD card and deleting the data on a PC using a card reader etc.
  • How do I play back a video which has been shot? ① Play back a video from the File List of an app.
    ② Save the data from the app in a smart phone and play back the video.
    ③ Take out the micro SD card from the camera main body and play back the video on a PC using a card reader etc.
    ④ Connect the camera to a PC with a USB cable and play back the video on the PC after turning ON the power supply of the camera.
  • What is the meaning of the lamp status when the sports camera is connected to a PC? Check here for details.
  • I tried to save the recorded data to a smart phone but couldn’t. Recorded data can be saved to a smart phone using a smart phone application. However, the data cannot be saved if the smart phone memory is full.
    Also, data cannot be saved directly to an SD card connected to a smart phone. Save the data to the smart phone main body first before copying it to an SD card.
    If the Wi-Fi connection is cut off when saving the data, the data will not be saved to the smart phone.
  • How can I use the remote switch of ST-9070 as a start or stop recording switch for the camera? When the camera and the Di2 wireless unit SM-EWW01 are connected via ANT+, recording can be started by double clicking the right-side switch of ST-9070 and stopped by double clicking the left-side switch. It is not necessary to make changes to the settings of ST-9070.
  • How can I connect the camera and SM-EWW01? ① Connect the camera and smartphone via Wi-Fi. (For details, refer to the help manual in the SPORT CAMERA smartphone application.)
    ② Open the SPORT CAMERA application on the smartphone.
    ③ Tap pairing sensor settings on the SETTING screen of the SPORT CAMERA application.
    ④ Slide the Di2 slide switch on the pairing settings page to the right to turn it on (green).
    ⑤ The message “Pairing” displays.
    ⑥ Put the wireless unit into pairing mode.
    • If using an external battery
    After making sure that the electric wire is connected to the wireless unit, remove and then re-insert the external battery.
    • If using an internal battery
    After making sure that the electric wire is connected to the wireless unit, remove the electric wire (2 wires) connected to the wireless unit and then reconnect them. (Pairing commences a few seconds after re-inserting the battery or reconnecting the electric wire to the wireless unit.)
    ⑦ When pairing is complete, a message displaying “Pairing with ANT device was successful.” appears in the SPORT CAMERA application; tap “OK”.

    Pairing is now complete. Although completing pairing once allows automatic connection thereafter,
    if the pairing is cancelled or the firmware is updated etc., pairing will need to be performed again.
Windows & Mac APPLICATION
  • An installation window for DirectX9 popped up while SHIMANO Camera Editor was being installed.
    DirectX9 is already installed on this PC, does it need to be installed again?
    If DirectX9 is already installed on your PC, there is no need to install DirectX9 again. Click “No”, and cancel the installation.
  • When the SHIMANO Camera Editor starts up, the editing window is displayed with the top cut off. Depending on your PC’s operating system, after the app’s language setting is changed it may display briefly upon start-up, after which the program may be used normally.
  • Video playback does not respond when I move the scroll bar in the preview area. Briefly release the slider to switch screens.
  • SHIMANO Camera Editor abruptly shuts down when I try to capture video. Video taken using cameras other than CM-1000 cannot be read properly. Integrated and previously edited videos cannot be read either.
  • I changed the image quality setting from “high” to “low” and imported the saved video as a new project,
    but the imported video is not the same length as the original.
    The times for previously edited imported videos may not display correctly in some cases.
  • A window saying “SHIMANO Camera Editor has stopped working” or a “.NET Framework 3.5 installation screen”appears. “.NET Framework 3.5” has not been installed or is disabled. Install and enable “.NET Framework 3.5”, then start up SHIMANO Camera Editor.
  • SHIMANO Camera Editor takes time to start up. SHIMANO Camera Editor may take some time to start up, depending on your PC’s performance and environment.
  • Cannot create editing blocks. Create editing blocks with time settings shorter than the empty spaces between the blocks.
  • After turning the video’s fixed cutting time (0:0:1) ON, I cannot create editing blocks by holding the Down(▼) button and clicking on the recorded video area. Set the time once again to 1 second, and you will be able to select.
  • I changed the language setting in the sensor data (with .csv file) display, and now the top of the editing window is cut off. Restart the app after going to options in the menu bar and turning the sensor data OFF.
  • If my PC goes into sleep mode while I am in “add music” mode, when it returns from sleep mode and I click on “add music” again, SHIMANO Camera Editor abruptly shuts down. Do not put your PC into sleep mode while using SHIMANO Camera Editor.
  • Can a video be edited again after it has been converted? A video cannot be edited after it has been converted. Open the project used in the editing process and edit that project.
  • Can music that was downloaded, or saved to the PC from a CD, be used? Only file types with the file extension "wav" can be used.
  • Can videos (files) be combined? No, they cannot be combined. Files combined with other software also cannot be read.
  • Can multiple titles be inserted? No, multiple titles cannot be inserted. Only one title can be inserted for each edited video.
  • I want to set the beginning of the music. That is not possible. Music is played from the beginning.
  • The app cannot be started again after exiting by pressing the X (Close) button while reading an original video on a Mac. As the video continues to be read in the background, the app cannot be started until the reading is complete.Wait for a while or force the app to shut down by pressing “Exit Application”.
  • The section I want to edit cannot be selected. ① Selection is carried out at 1 second intervals so an intermediate range cannot be selected.
    ② If 10 cuts are selected (up to a maximum of 10 sections)
    ・Selection can be enabled by deleting cuts that have already been set.
    ③ If the section you want to select is the same or shorter than the time set in “Fix the length of video to be cut”
    ・Either shorten the setting time or adjust the time of the cut before and after the section that you want to select.
  • The Music/Audio settings return the default value (100%). The settings may return to the default value when the cut time of an edited block, in which the music has already been set, is changed.
  • The screen becomes grainy when distortion correction is carried out. During correction, the screen appears grainy as a part of it is cut and magnified.
  • The surrounding images are not captured when distortion correction is carried out. The specifications are set that way for correction purposes. Check here for details.
  • How long does it take to convert a video? Check here for details.
  • The app may sometimes shut down abruptly. The app may be forced to shut down when the PC is restored from a sleep/rest mode. Do not put your PC into the sleep/rest mode while using the app.
iOS & Android APPLICATION
  • Where can I download the smartphone app? Access a download for the app from the following link, making sure to select the app that's compatible with your smartphone. Alternatively, you can go directly to either the App Store page or the Google Play page and enter the search term "Shimano" in the search box.
  • How can I confirm the connection status of an ANT device? The connection status of a wireless ANT device is indicated by an icon displayed in the upper-right corner of the app's Live View screen.

  • Why is there no sound when I play back movies stored on my Android device? Some media players for Android don't support PCM audio - the audio format that accompanies the MOV video files recorded by the SHIMANO SPORT CAMERA. If your Android player doesn't play sound for your recorded clips, try downloading a PCM-compatible movie player from Google Play.
  • After entering the required password to set up a Wi-Fi connection, I forgot the new password that I made.
    How can I return to the default settings?
    ① Store the "Initialization file (WIFI_SET.txt)" in the root directory of the Micro SD card (i.e., in the highest-level folder).
    Download the "Initialization file" from here.
    Note: Use the right-click menu (in Windows) to prompt the download to save.
    ② Insert the Micro SD card prepared in ① above into the camera, and activate the camera by pressing either the MODE or Record buttons.
    ③ After activation, the SSID and password are returned to the default settings. The camera will automatically shut off.

    (After the settings are initialized, the " Initialization file " stored on the Micro SD card will be deleted automatically.)
    ④ When the camera is turned on, it is ready to operate with the default settings.
  • Is it possible to display a live view of the video being recorded by the sports camera on a smart phone? The live view function cannot be used while recording is in progress.
  • I played a video from the file list of the smart phone app but there is no sound. If the smartphone app or camera firmware versions are old, the error signal will not sound.

  • The video recording that I saved on a smart phone (iOS 8 or later) plays back in slow motion. How can I play it back normally? HD120fps, WVGA120fps, and VGA240fps videos saved on iOS 8 or later smart phones play back in slow motion. Change the slow motion and normal playback ranges via the smart phone’s video editing function.
  • I took a video/still image with the mirror image setting ON but the playback is not a mirror image. The mirror image setting only applies to the Live View screen.
  • When saving a file to the smartphone via File List, is it still possible to save it even if the app moves to the background? Saving is not possible. Do not allow the app to move to the background while saving is in progress as this will cause saving to terminate midway.
